You are not using "Unix".
Your computer is using Unix.
You, on the other hand, are using your computer's operating system, OS X. And you are using applications, like Toast. Is this not correct?
When you start using Unix, let us know! I've heard it takes some advanced skill to do it, but some users here can do it. For most of us less technical users, it's easier to avoid the command line, and instead interact with the OS X interface, and employ applications to do specific tasks. I love OS X. I'm glad OS X can benefit from its Unix underpinnings without any special technical skill on my part.
You get the best of both worlds. Your computer is using Unix, and you, the end user, are benefiting from it!
