How would McGuyver make a soldering rod for two spots?

You cut up a penny so it is triangular. Heat it up on the stove and measure it with your infra red thermometer and stick a dab of solder on it. When the solder solidifies, you know the melting temp. Now heat it up about 50 F more than that and use the triangular point to solder the caps back on.

But first make certain to use an old copper cent. The new ones are just a copper layer over a tin core and melt at about the same temperature as solder.
