I am still running 10.4.11 on my iMac. I launch Skype this morning and it says there is a newer version. I haven't updated Skype in quite a while and it is acting a little funny this morning, so I decide to install the update. After I install and try to relaunch I get a message that this version of Skype will not work on this Mac. Why would they suggest an update that is incompatible? That doesn't make sense to me.
I Google search for the older version and see a lot of people got sucked into this bad idea, but luckily someone posted what revision the older version was, so I could find the download and reinstall without having to search on my backup drive.
I have now disabled the "check for updates automatically" in preferences and guess I have learned a lesson to check compatibility, but I still think and update should not be suggested if it isn't compatible with the system it will be running on. I don't recall other programs doing this.
