Why are saying these cars would have to be "teeny?"
SUV's and trucks can have non-plug in hybrid engines. Chevy Tahoe is available as a hybrid, right?
This isn't about the weight of the car, it's about the type of engine.
Overall I don't think the problem is as much the manufacturers as it is our highly subsidized cheap gas. Why not drive a Tahoe alone to the grocery store if you're paying less than $3/gallon? Should be more like $8 to $12 a gallon to reflect the true cost of that fuel. That would change habits.
