I just noticed this on my "new" 5th gen. I had a little scare when I grabbed it to head out yesterday, thinking it was drained. Played around and noticed it's green in other windows.
So my input is:
1) Yes, Normal for at least the 5th/6th gens (-not- the third, dunno about the 4th because I skipped it)
2) Why: for the sake of change.
I don't like it either.
