I go on a computer call today. Nothing too difficult. I have been taking care of this family's Macs since 1999. Very nice people.
The mother is in her 70's. She is very, very nice.
She has always had a non-direct train of thought when talking to her. I just always listen carefully.
Today, she tells me that she is undergoing tests for Alzheimer's. She won't get the results until the end of the month.
She asks me at the end of our session if I see a difference in her (referring to if I see any symptoms of the disease).
Before I could answer, she was crying. I couldn't fight back the tears.
I pray she doesn't.
I spend just about as much time listening and talking about our families as much as I do working on any computer issues. I basically charge enough to cover the cost of gas to drive out to her place.
