Wait... you want a $1000 machine to back up $100 worth of BluRay disks??
You can do much more with a $1000 machine than just backing up the discs. Sounds like he also wants to utilize a different OS to complement what he currently is using now - with the possibility for an Intel-based Macintosh later out of it.
