Is Straight Talk any good?
All depends on what you want.
I have had it since I got back in August. Can't think of any major or even minor issues.
Texting, data and calls work. I don't use a lot of data. Supposedly, you are safe up to 2 GB a month. I don't use anywhere near that. Speed is not that fast, i.e. not 4G/LTE speed on my iPhone 5, but fast enough for me (DSL speeds).
No visual voice mail, but I rarely use my portable computer to make calls.

They use AT&T's towers (and T-Mobile's?) so if you have no AT&T coverage, that's something to think about. No problem near Lynchburg, but it may be different in Bedford.

Great news for me since I just ruined one Straight Talk SIM yesterday trying to cut it down to nano size.
template I downloaded did not work for me to cut it.
Yeah, I think mine was a little too small after I trimmed it, but it has been working perfectly since Thursday! No thickness issues for me either.
