Buy a good quality primer and the best quality paint you can afford. Do not buy your paint from the Big Box Store go where the Pro's go...
The big difference between the "value" line paints and the top of the line stuff is the amount of solids/pigment that is in the paint.
The top of the line paint generally has 3-5 times more solids by volume as the cheap stuff, that is why it covers better, has a better finished appearance and is more durable over time.
Don't skimp on the paint!!
