Thanks, both of you. Seemed like good suggestions, but neither worked.
Looked good in the description. Seems to be total cr@p in practice.
Truncates the video when it opens it, which is only about 25% of the time. The rest of the time it pops up an ad for "Treasured" which claims to be a freeware diagnostic and repair tool, but finds something wrong with every file that it touches and demands money to fix it.
First thing I tried. It refuses to open these h264 files.

Gonna have to lay off for the night. 'Got work in the morning...
So far the only half-decent workflow that I've found is to transcode to MPEG2 in a QT wrapper so that I can make my edits in QT7.
