A lot can happen in 19 years... if, in another 5 years it looks increasingly likely and no global agreement has been reached on climate change then we've got two scenarios:
1) World governments decide to do nothing and let the asteroid hit because it can't be any worse than the impending climate apocalypse and at least it's NOT OUR FAULT.
2) Kickstarter crowdfunds an "Armageddon"-style expedition to stop it. Heck, there are enough billionaires now that they alone could decide to fund something like this to save themselves and everyone else along with them.
3) At least the unix clock rollover issue won't matter...
