That was addressed earlier in this thread by Chakravartin's quote from their site. Basically the thing disables itself automatically when not near the phone, based on a time interval you specified when you set it up.
Your other concerns may have already been as well but the one above is what I remember. You might want to take another look at how it works. There shouldn't be any reason to have to guess.
