Almost made this mistake once at a communal meal in Baluchistan, around a fragrant fire of dried camel dung. The one English speaker in the group called my name and pantomimed why. He laughed. I laughed. And dug in. I think it was mostly goat and some unknown vegetable. And of course Nan. The key is to eat when it's boiling hot, and all the nice parasites are dead.
