Google+ is perfectly acceptable as a social platform, in my opinion, my problem is the increased desire for Google to opt everyone into all of their services.
Put it this way, I don't mind the single login for Google services (remember when you had a YouTube account, Gmail account, etc.) and I don't even mind Google+ being better integrated, to a point. However, let me the user decided which features I want and allow each to be enabled or disabled as necessary. Might seem strange, but maybe I want to post YouTube videos, follow people on Google+, but not have Gmail. Maybe I just want YouTube. Maybe I want Gmail and YouTbe.
