Dave,

I'd recommend a handlebar bag rather than a basket. That way, anything she puts into the bag won't fall out if the road gets too bumpy. That and they definitely have models that are quick release. I bought a handlebar bag for my xootr scooter and for the shopping cart I use when I walk to the shopping cart. Works great!
