We did like Ferndale. We went there on Sunday. I guess that's the yard sale day, because we must have seen a dozen of them. Charming little town, very scenic. I wish we'd had more time to look around, but dagnabbit, we went down there to look at trees! I would have enjoyed the graveyard, having a sort of odd attraction to them.
We saw a grove of sequoias alright. But it's more like experiencing them. They certainly were awesome to look at, but like malfunction said, the pictures don't do them justice. It's all about their silent presence over hundreds or thousands of years, though I think we only saw 400 or 500 year old youngsters. It was surprisingly moving to see the fallen ones decomposing, becoming dirt again, taller than our house even laying on their sides. That's a cool story about the seedling.
