Are the Lufthansa pilots armed? Conceivably the lock could be shot open. Or is that only in the movies?
I have no idea if they're armed, but it could be a huge tactical error to wander out into the general population of the plane with your duty weapon, and get relieved of it.
As for shooting the lock- 1) I bet the doors could easily withstand the average handgun round, several of them, in fact. B) shooting out a lock is pretty much movie/TV fare. There's a real risk of a ricochet injuring or even killing someone, assuming it could be done at all. I don't know if shooting a keypad would do anything more than disable the keypad anyway.
Of course, if you're faced with the the choice of injuring or sacrificing a few passengers, or saving the plane, blast away.
