Apple was quick to reply. Computer was first purchased on8-27-2013OOPS! it was actually 8-27-2012!!!. Out of warranty.
That's pretty close to the 8-6-2012 data of manufacture that Coconut Battery reported in your earlier thread. And that was just based on the year/week encoded in the serial number. I wonder if Apple really has proof that it was sold to an end user on 8/27, or if that's when Apple sold it to Best Buy.
In any case it was heavily used, not a brand new product that was just used during a short return period and was sitting idle for close to 3 years.
You always referred to it as an "Open Box", did they really have the original box for it with a matching serial number on the sticker. I was assuming that BB was using the term very loosely and there was no box (and maybe it really was some sort of used trade-in that they never sold originally).
What if BB offers to take $100 more off the price?
And keep in mind that it will probably need a new battery soon, more than 50% life gone, but maybe that's inaccurate and re-calibrating it will show better numbers. EDIT: In looking at it again, it looks like it was still charging, so the true capacity won't really be known until the charging is complete, and is probably much better than 43%.
