Yours could have been the: "Note: A small number of open-box products were returned due to a defect and submitted for repair. Once the repair was completed, the product was tested to ensure full operation and restored to original manufacturer settings. The condition assigned to a product may reflect repair."

but I'd bet it was what was previously suggested that someone returned their old computer...although, the SN on the receipt should make that easy to figure out.

Geeksquad is so bad I wouldn't put it past them to lose a repair for 3 years.
