He is also an accomplished pilot. After his little accidental landing on a golf course in his WWII plane, his flight instructor told the slavering press that not only was Ford the best student he'd ever had, but had also had Ford assist him from time to time teaching other pilots.
And yes, he can act his butt off.
I wonder why Ford hasn't done any flat-out aviation themed movies. The other most accomplished movie star pilot, Jimmy Stewart, made some excellent ones like Spirit of St. Louis and Flight of the Phoenix.
