Dropbox "Project Infinite"
#7
Ka,

I like the idea on one level. However, I can also see it being problematic for at least two reasons on a different level.

Imagine I'm using Dropbox Infinite. I've got 8 gigs worth of data stored in the infinite folder. I want clone my drive via Carbon Copy Cloner to a backup drive.

To simplify, the files stored in the infinite folder are kind of like aliases to the originals that are located in the cloud. How will Carbon Copy Cloner handle them? Downloading each file prior to copying it is going to greatly increase clone times.

'course, an infinite folder will also make local backups of the files all the more critical. This kind of relates to the CCC question. How will the machine handle plain ol' copies of the files in the infinite folder from the drive to another drive?
