Good luck to you. Both formats are excellent but both have issues.
I used Canon in the 1990s with manual focus film lenses, but switched to Nikon because Canon refused to allow their older manual focus lenses to work on their EOS system.
It's several years later, and I am very happy with Nikon, although the switch required all new equipment which was expensive.
Maybe you could pick up some Canon equipment for portraits, since that's where you are most frustrated with Nikon. Over time you could replace your equipment for other uses.
To this day, I still sometimes turn the focus and zooms the old Canon way!
