Do SSD's (2.5" SATA ) go on sale often?

I was surprised over the 2016 holidays' LACK of good pricing on SSDs. I was looking to buy a 2TB SSD but NOT at the prices I was seeing. I did some housekeeping and, was able to delete over 200GB FROM THE 1TB SSD I had upgraded to in my 17"MBP. That SSD boots significantly faster than the HD it replaced.
