I ran into a real life consquence of the steel tariffs

I had a 4 shelf steel shelving unit that I disassembled and took to a local recycling center to see if they would recycle it. They told me that they don't take steel other than cans anymore. Ever since the tariffs went into effect it was becoming more difficult to get anyone to take away their steel, too much paperwork related to proving the origin of the steel is what I understood the problem to be.

So it went to a landfill instead. Making America Great Again.

I wonder if auto salvage yards are impacted by this.
