Stolen ID
#8
I and my husband experienced ID theft in 2015 & 2016 via the IRS website. They had put a link to pull up old transcripts of your prior tax forms, but it was not secure and scammers used it to get access to many peoples SS#, address, DOB, etc. They made a mess of our taxes the past 2 years. And have been using my husbands info for credit cards in the past 6-10 months which we just found out when I was checking our credit reports (because of this). I had put freezes on all 3 of my credit reports and thought I did so for my husband, but apparently I did not finalize the freezes for him. BTW, amazing how much incorrect info (including the scammers addresses and phone #'s!) I found on the TransUnion report. Nothing is safe anymore essentially.

Interestingly, they have been paying their bills on these credit cards and even closed one account after paying it off! WTF?? It's gotta be those damn Russians! :patriot:
