Yeah - not much you can do with character development in ONE
C'mon! It's a comic first and foremost! Character development takes years in comics. Critics expect you to know everything in 2 hours? Please...
Just rewatched Reservoir Dogs recently. Without knowing their names or personal histories, the characters had depth and pretty clear motivation in the first few minutes.
It occurred primarily through dialogue.
They've done similar stuff in the Marvel movies. Breaks from the action for character-development.
But in the DC movies, they throw in a one-liner here and there or a jarring poorly-illuminated flashback/cutscene and expect it to be sufficient. It's not.
Plus, Wonder Woman is back to be treated like a piece of eye candy. Yuck! Batman is lining himself up for a harassment lawsuit.
