That is a sweet piece of electronics. My old music teacher (HS; class of 1984) had a full McIntosh setup, cobbled together from second-hand sales and "right place at the right time" purchases, as he put it. Envious as hell of that, back in the day.
His LP collection was great, and he dismissed the CD as a passing fad. I remember telling him back in the mid 80s that by the end of the decade you'd be hard pressed to find an LP in stores, and he just laughed.
That whole era -- when I got magazines like Audio magazine and Stereo Review religiously -- was wonderful. My own first system was a mismatched bunch of nonsense, but I loved that setup and sometimes miss messing with cabling.
