I don't put alkaline batteries into remotes anymore. They leak too much.
I use lithium batteries for remotes.
The only thing I use alkaline batteries in anymore is a metronome that takes a nine volt battery. It's an inexpensive device that needs a new battery fairly often, and it's' not worth spending $8-10 on lithium batteries for it.
