uh..yeah - becoming penniless or ending up dead, in the hope of finding $1M is not one of my goals. If I was already retired and had the free time to think on the clues left in the poem, I could see spending some time trying to figure it out, and maybe even taking one trip if I thought I had solved it...but spending my life's savings, or putting myself at risk of death? That's a hard NO.
