See if the back of the receiver has a plug for an IR recever extension. Some electronics that have IR reports have them. Some don't. If it has one, you can pick up an IR extender dirt cheap. Once plugged in, it supplements or disables the one on the front. Needed to do with with one of our FIOS boxes. Worked like a champ. The extenders are reasonably priced. I've seen them for under $20.
