I know it won't be popular but I felt the eviction ban should have been lifted as soon as the federal unemployment checks were issued. If a person was still working, then rent should not have been an issue. If they became unemployed, then the $600 per week addition to regular unemployment should have covered rent. That doesn't even take the federal stimulus payments into consideration.
Instead, people stopped paying rent just because they could. The property owners still had to pay a mortgage, tax, insurance, etc. It is hardly fair to them to say they have to provide free accommodations.
As for the judicial review, it won't even have to go to SCOTUS. It will likely get shut down at the federal district court level and the court of appeals will not take it up.
