Nukes is off the table for Russia. That immediately makes it a World War. One that Russia would royally pay for immediately within minutes. Putin would be assassinated in short order.
In the big scheme Russia and China could be in the throes of shifting the world order. But it would have to be conventional because neither country would survive nuclear options.
Russia is just going to keep ratcheting up the destruction to goad the US directly into the fray. The US isn't going to bite, despite many ignorant US citizens desperately wanting us to.
