Why do songs sound quite different in different apps?

I've got some .aiff files that I've polished in Sound Studio (v3). Playing them in Sound Studio, and then playing them in iTunes (still the same .aiff file, not a mp3 of it), they sound quite different. I'd call it brigher, with more highs.
Does iTunes do something to audio files by default? Why the radical difference in sound? |
