Yes, I find this puzzling. If you are a homeowner, you will add a Tesla charger and you will charge at home. I love not going to a smelly gas station.
We use Superchargers when we travel point to point.
My two Millennials are wrestling with not having a home. So they are getting the family PHEV that can be charged on a simple 110V - a Volt. I think there will be a need for good PHEVs for decades to come for this reason alone.
In the places that are the most likely to buy EV's there are more renters than homeowners. Remember, the Infrastructure Bill is providing funds for a nationwide charging network buildout within 5 years as we speak.
