I think gas is $3 a gallon here. Filled the Volvo a few weeks ago with zero waiting and been driving it daily. Still over 200 miles until it will need gas again.
You’ll still spend more time and money at a gas station than an EV owner will do at a charging station.
In San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley, we have the world's suckiest gas stations. It's just a hit it and quit it proposition. They basically just got gas. But when you hit the suburbs or go to other states, the gas stations are gloriously opulent. I might hang out at those stations, feeding at their troughs. Lolligaging at their vast beverage stations. Luxuriously putting air in my tires.
Exactly. And the lessons-learned? EV charging stops are perfect for businesses who want a captive audience!
I'm waiting for a killer app (business) that will take advantage of this.
They really don't have to try. When they see the Taco Truck and the Tamale Lady hanging out they'll get it. But then again, with the rapid advances in battery technology, why invest in a "captive audience" opportunity that may not be captive soon?
Most of the advances in battery technology has been in the area of manufacturing and reducing cost. We need to wait for the next generation of battery tech for a significant improvement in energy density and charging times.
