I'm one of those people that split my Oreos, by pulling it apart, scrape the creme filling off with my teeth and then eat the cookie, repeat for other half. I never eat them whole, so can't speak to that combined taste.
Sometime around Covid, Oreos went from being made in the U.S. (possibly New Jersey) to Mexico. Since that time we've noticed the quality isn't consistent.
Sometimes the creme filling has a greasy consistency and doesn't taste as sweet. Sometimes the filling isn't as creamy and taste more like powered sugar.
Occasionally the cookie part will have a dirty less chocolatey taste.
Frequently we'll get family size packages where every single cookie is broken. It's not that they're broken from manhandling, but the cookie has a crack or defect in it, in the same place on every single cookie. When you go to twist them apart the the pieces break free from the filling and make them much more difficult to eat. I'm thinking that the one of the cookie molds is somehow defective, or the machine that puts them together is pressing too hard in the same spots on every cookie.
None of these problems existed with the American made cookies to the best of my recollection.
