Boulder has been on my mind for a while. I visited friends there last year and loved it. I am getting very, very sick of the San Francisco Bay Area.
I was born and raised on the Peninsula, lived there for 30 years before buying a house. In order to afford a decent house, my wife and I moved 60 miles northeast of SF to Contra Costa County. We are both professionals who make good money, with no kids, and housing in the Bay Area proper was well beyond our reach. In my little cookie-cutter bedroom community, the population has exploded from 14,000 when I moved here in 2000 to about 42,000 now. The influx of rude and just unpleasant people has been felt here, too.
I am sorely tempted to sell the house (even with the soft market here) and just get the hell out once and for all. As they say on TV infomercials, "There's GOT to be a better way!"
