I have a friend in law enforcement that told me that he doesn't use signals when on duty because he doesn't want people to know where he is going. Honest to goodness truth!
I despise (not too strong a word) anyone that doesn't use them. The lack of use of signals causes as many or more near accidents (or accidents) as speeding does (from personal data mining ;-) ).
I use my signals even when in parking lots and I'm turning and am always one to comment when a friend is driving and chooses not to use them. Something along the lines of "this is a nice car but I'd have opted for the package that includes working turn signals". I'm annoying that way.
