I do this sometimes, but only if I am able to accelerate away from the truck as I am pulling into its lane. If not, I won't do it; it's unfair to the trucker and unsafe for both of us.
Maybe Speedy can answer a question I've had for a long time now: What the hell is up with people who insist on traveling alongside tractor-trailers on the freeway, either directly aside or slightly aflank but always matching their speed? Do these people not understand that, in effect, they double the width of one of the slower moving vehicles on the road?
