Someone I know had a cockatiel fly out of her house and disappear (probably because it wanted a new Mommy, but that's another story). A couple of people subsequently reported seeing a cockatiel at the Inner Harbor (just a mile or two away) hanging out in a flock of pigeons, eating the bread etc. that the tourists were throwing. I have no idea what finally happened to it.
