Ok, I think I am going to email him. Like many of you said (INCLUDING rgG), I have nothing to lose since I already have a feeling he isn't interested. This will just confirm it. 
BTW, it is not as if I have NEVER dated. I have had a very serious and several not so serious relationships. It has just been a while since either.
