ka jot, I dunno-- all I can tell you is, I did a straight install of Tiger onto my B&W G3/450 Rev 2, which has the following upgrades: 1) Maxed out RAM to 1GB; 2) 40GB, 7200 rpm drive; 3) G3/500 mhz ZIF overclocked to 550 mhz... and it runs great. (Even with the stock 450mhz processor overclocked to 500, it still runs pretty well.) I think the major factors are the upgraded hard drive and RAM, and the fact of just doing a straight install (e.g., an install not bogged down with loads of unnecessary stuff, as is the case for my main system). By comparison, I have a Tiger clone of my main system installed on one of my Clamshell 466's, and it runs, but is poky... so I do think have a ton of extra stuff installed does make a big difference.
