As a PTA "Elected" Officer, you qualify to make a purchase on the Apple store K-12. If you make a significant purchase, they ask for proof. If it's insignificant, they don't, usually (based on a sample of three purchases over five years, so YMMV).
It's a bit like the Microsoft Student and Teachers versions they sell at the store- they don't ask, and you don't tell. It's all a bit of handwaving.
Note that many of your local stores will acknowledge your PTA officer status, and have issued your treasurer a tax exempt ID card or other information. But that's just for buying stuff for the PTA or for the school, NOT for personal use. While Apple may not hunt you down, your local and state taxtation officers will kill you for pennies.
