Anyone have a Recipe for "Groaty Pudding"? Perhaps our British MRF'ers?
#1
And to begin, I'll clarify that "MRF'ers" stands for "MacResource'ers", not any other colloquial :-)

After some extensive googling, it seems that there is only ONE SINGLE RECIPE reposted over and over, almost infinitely, for Groaty Pudding...

This one (verbatim from 11 PAGES of Google results for "Groaty Pudding");
Groaty Dick Pudding Recipe
Serves: 1
Ingredients
Stewing beef; cubed small amount
Onions; chopped
Leeks; chopped
Salt & Pepper omit salt if using bouillon
Oat groats; if you can't get at health food store, try pet store
Stock; homemade, preferable

Directions

1. A traditional Midlands dish for Midsummer's Eve.
2. Put meat (do not brown first) , onions, leeks, salt & pepper and groats in earthenware pot.
3. Pour stock over top and stir.
4. Put lid on.
5. Put in medium-low oven for 16 hours.
6. Groats will absorb stocks and juices and expand.

I have nothing AGAINST this recipe, but when trying (or thinking about trying) something new like this, I would at least like to have more than ONE persons recipe to see if there may be a variation I like better!

And Groats (full grain, uncut, Oats) are not easy to find in "people food" stores...
Fortunately, I have a local health food store with a good selection where they have 'em for $1.49/lb. Smile
