Actually, there is no support for USB 2.0 in classic Mac OS. USB 2.0 cards and devices will only work at USB 1.1 speeds AFAIK. I don't think Apple shipped a machine that could both boot natively into Mac OS 9 and had USB 2.0 ports (or Firewire 800 ports, for that matter).

10.2.x is the minimum for high-speed, 480Mbps USB 2.0 support.
