Unmount, and disconnect. But (in my case) only those devices that are mounted as storage devices (External hard disks, thumb drives, etc.) I have other devices like scanners and printers, bluetooth adapters, etc. That stay connected to the USB 2.0 card all the time with no problems. You'll need to do a process of elimination to figure out what your problem devices are, and then remember to *detach* those devices before sleep is permitted. Like wickedsteve, I don't let my computer auto-sleep. If I want to sleep it, I do that manually after making sure no offending devices are still attached. And of course, items plugged into the original built-in USB 1.1 ports need not be worried about at all
