Have you tried pulling back the carpet just a bit?
If there is a carpet pad underneath then there will be a tack strip along the perimeter of the room. There is usually some space behind the tack strip and below the molding. I have run RG-56 cable (cable TV) in this space in my apartment with no problem, just get a poker and shove it in there, then lay the carpet back down.
Unless of course you have 1/4 round molding after the baseboard, then you won't be able to pull the carpet back.
