Not at all. The d807 is an excellent phone and I'm sure it'll be fine for most people. My phones take abuse and a sliding design is just asking for trouble in my hands. That and I like having everything right at my fingertips. Grab phone, press buttons, done. No slide, no flip open, no twist. Just grab, press and use.
Case in point. My Nokia 3620 dropped off my belt clip while I was running up a flight of steel steps. It flew across my warehouse from approximately 20 feet in the air and landed on the concrte floor. The screen cracked but the phone worked perfectly otherwise. I got a new face plate and it was in brand-new condition again. And that is the least of the abuse its taken over the years.
New non-ruggedized phones aren't made like that these days and one that has a gimmick, i.e. slide or twist design, will definitely not handle the kind of wear and tear my phones deal with all too regularly. That's why I won't go near something like the d807, even if it is an overall excellent phone. Maybe if I could get it dirt cheap, i.e. $19.99 but not if I have to pay more than a piddling for it.
I just wish Cingular and T-Mobile offered rugged phones, i.e. Nokia 5500 sport phone or many of the nextel models. Now those kind of phones that are good for me.
