Here's a speedtest I just did at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ using the Washington DC server using my Comcast cable modem.
Last Result:
Download Speed: 7668 kbps (958.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 358 kbps (44.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Comcast does have that 'speed boost' thing where you can get up to 12Mbps for a short time which is nice, but it won't sustain for long downloads. Where I used to live before I had the 15Mb FiOS service as was able to sustain well over 1MBps (that's one Megabyte per second) ... before that I had 1.5Mbps DSL which was just a bear in comparison.
