for convenience, I second the roadtools podium and travel pads, as they're light weight, rugged, and do their job well. for a more permanent location, such as at home or office, I found a generic, house brand, metal riser stand for under $20 on sale at ChumpUSA that has a couple of heat exchangers underneath that does a magnificent job of cooling, though while it's too big, rigid, and heavy to easily travel with, it's silent and sucks the heat out of a laptop better than any other passive stand I've seen. can't find it on ChumpUSA's website to link, but PM me and I'll send you photos if interested.
